The Deity System

12 divine companions across four mythological traditions

In poqpoq World, 12 divine companions stand in a circle around the central plaza. Each deity represents a different aspect of your character and offers unique blessings. Choose wisely -- your bond shapes your journey.

The deities are organized along four axes: Physical, Mental, Social, and Creative. Each axis contains three deities, giving you 12 distinct paths of progression. As you grow in rank, more powerful deities reveal themselves, and at the highest ranks, a legendary 13th deity awaits those bold enough to seek chaos.

The Bonding Ritual

How Bonding Works

When you approach a deity in the plaza and choose to bond, they present three blessings. Each blessing grants a different combination of attribute bonuses, letting you specialize your character even within a single deity's domain.

You choose one blessing, and it permanently adds those attribute bonuses to your character. You can only bond with one deity initially. Additional bond slots unlock as you advance through the ranks:

Faith Amplification

Your Faith Attribute Amplifies Blessing Bonuses

Faith grows through deity interactions, rituals, and offerings. The higher your Faith, the more powerful your blessings become. This amplification applies to your primary deity bond.

Faith Level Amplification Example (Moon's Grace)
20 Base values +6 Agility, +4 Cunning
50 +50% +9 Agility, +6 Cunning
90 +100% +12 Agility, +8 Cunning

Investing in Faith rewards devotion. A character with high Faith and a single deep bond can rival one with multiple shallow bonds.

Unbonding

Breaking a Divine Bond

You can sever a bond with a deity, but it comes at a cost. This is designed to be a meaningful decision, not something you min-max between sessions.

The blessing bonuses are removed immediately upon unbonding. Choose your companions carefully -- loyalty is rewarded, and fickleness has a price.

Pantheon Distribution

The deity roster draws from five mythological traditions, deliberately mixed to reflect the diversity of human storytelling. No single pantheon dominates.

5 Greek
4 Norse
2 Celtic
1 Egyptian
1 Roman

Greek deities include the nymph Echo, reflecting the breadth within a single tradition. The Norse contribution includes Loki, the legendary 13th deity unlocked at the highest ranks. Celtic, Egyptian, and Roman traditions round out the roster, with room for future pantheon expansions as the world grows.
